Business
International Paper makes fiber-based packaging, mainly containerboard and corrugated boxes, in North America, Europe, North Africa and Latin America. The January 31, 2025 combination with DS Smith, paid for in new IP shares worth about $9.9 billion, turned it into a two-region business. It sold its Global Cellulose Fibers unit in January 2026 and plans to spin off the EMEA packaging business, aiming to finish near the end of 2026 or early 2027.
