Business
Genworth is two businesses under one holding company. Enact, a separately listed and majority-controlled subsidiary, sells private mortgage insurance on low down payment U.S. home loans and sends cash up through buybacks and dividends. The Closed Block holds legacy long-term care, life and annuity policies that no longer take new business and are run as self-sustaining, standalone insurers. Genworth uses Enact's cash to buy back its own shares and to build CareScout, a long-term care services and insurance start-up.
